CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Inter-District University Level “Youth Festival” 2024-25 was organized at the Gyan Vigyan Bhavan of Barkatullah University, Bhopal.
Grand Procession and Inauguration
On the first day, a grand procession began from the university’s main gate to Gyan Vigyan Bhavan, flagged off by Vice-Chancellor Prof. S.K. Jain. The inauguration ceremony featured Shri Vishwas Kailash Sarang, Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare, as the chief guest, with Prof. S.K. Jain presiding over the event.
The program commenced with the ceremonial lamp lighting by the chief guest, the Vice-Chancellor, Registrar Dr. I.K. Mansoori, Professor Pawan Mishra (Dean of Student Welfare), and Professor Anshuja Tiwari, followed by a Saraswati Vandana performed by students. The chief guest was honored with a shawl and coconut by the Vice-Chancellor and Registrar.
Welcoming Address and Remarks
Prof. Pawan Mishra delivered the welcome speech, highlighting the festival’s role in enhancing youth talents and their crucial role in societal development. Shri Vishwas Sarang emphasized the importance of culture and creativity in uplifting society and the nation through such youth festivals. He also stressed the value of living for the country, not just personal or family goals, and urged the students to contribute to building a better India.
He remarked, “India has the largest youth population, our greatest asset. The future of the nation lies in the hands of our youth, and under the leadership of our Prime Minister, India is gaining recognition globally.” He encouraged students to live for society and the nation, drawing inspiration from the sacrifices of freedom fighters and the teachings of great leaders like Ramakrishna, Buddha, Gandhi, and Vivekananda.
Cultural Performances and Activities
The cultural segment began with a dance performance by Sant Hridayaram School students, invoking Goddess Kali through the “Theyyam Dance,” symbolizing her divine power and ferocity. Students from Betul district presented the “Aghori Dance.” Barkatullah University students gave a group singing performance accompanied by instruments like the dholak and harmonium, featuring patriotic and folk songs, including “Lehra Raha Gagan Mein Tiranga Pyara.”
Group and solo dance performances followed, showcasing Gond Dance, Kalbelia Dance, Gor Dance, 13 Thali, Govardhan Puja, and more. Additional competitions included mimicry, skits, mimes, and other creative expressions.
Participation and Acknowledgments
The event witnessed participation from faculty heads, department heads, professors, and coordinators from eight districts, including Harda, Vidisha, Rajgarh, Betul, Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Raisen, and Sehore.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. S.K. Jain encouraged students to excel and promised a special “Dal-Baati Churma Party” for those representing the university at the Indore-level competition.
The festival concluded with a celebration of the diverse cultural heritage and talent of the students, reinforcing their commitment to national pride and personal growth.
