CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The tension between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over the ‘Hybrid Model’ hosting arrangement has intensified as Pakistan prepares to host the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. The Hybrid Model, initially proposed for the Asia Cup, suggested that India would play its matches at a neutral venue due to security concerns in Pakistan, while other teams would play in Pakistan. This setup aimed to allow Pakistan to retain hosting rights without compromising on security for the Indian team.

While the Asia Cup was successfully conducted under this model, the BCCI has shown reluctance to endorse a similar arrangement for the Champions Trophy. The BCCI’s stance arises from both security concerns and broader geopolitical tensions, as hosting matches involving Indian players in Pakistan remains sensitive. The PCB, however, is pushing to maintain the Hybrid Model to ensure Pakistan’s hosting rights are respected and to showcase its capability to hold international tournaments.

This dispute has raised questions about the future of ICC tournaments in South Asia and the possibility of Pakistan hosting marquee events. Cricket fans and experts alike are eagerly watching as both boards seek to reach a consensus that respects both security and hosting rights.
