CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A training program on “The Role of Media in Nation-Building” was organized for journalists at Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication. The event, held in the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium, featured keynote speaker Prof. K.G. Suresh, who emphasized the need for a change in mindset within journalism. He stressed the importance of discussing public interest in journalism. Prof. Suresh told journalists that no interest is greater than the national interest. Highlighting Dada Makhanlal as a source of inspiration, Prof. Suresh noted that it is due to Dada’s legacy that the university’s reputation is widespread today. He urged journalists to become ‘factivists’ rather than mere activists.
Prior to Prof. Suresh’s address, the training program included contributions from Prof. Avinash Vajpeyi, Head of the Department of Media Management and Registrar, Prof. Dr. Monika Verma, Head of the Department of Electronic Media, and Dr. Lal Bahadur Ojha, who shared their insights on their respective topics.
Other notable speakers included Ashish Agarwal, BJP’s State Media Incharge, Dr. Raghvendra Sharma, former Chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Child Rights Protection Commission, senior journalist S.N. Malviya, and Editor-in-Chief Umesh Gupta.
The event was also attended by Director of Training Dr. Jaya Surajani, Dean of Academics Prof. Dr. P. Shashikala, Prof. Dr. Pavitra Srivastava, Head of the Department of Advertising and Public Relations, and Dr. Arun Kumar Khobre, Public Relations Officer.
