CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress  /  ITDC News Bhopal  / Mumbai  / Goregaon :  A major road accident occurred early Friday morning on the Western Express Highway in Goregaon, Mumbai, after a BEST bus collided with a stationary truck, leaving at least six people injured, including the bus driver and several passengers.

According to preliminary reports from the Mumbai Traffic Police, the incident happened around 6:30 AM when the bus was heading towards Andheri. The truck was reportedly parked on the side of the highway without proper indicators or hazard lights. Due to low visibility and possibly driver fatigue, the bus rammed into the rear of the truck at considerable speed.

The impact severely damaged the front portion of the bus, trapping the driver and some passengers inside. Local commuters and passersby rushed to help until emergency services and police reached the spot. The injured were immediately shifted to Trauma Care Hospital in Jogeshwari, where they are undergoing treatment. Fortunately, all six injured individuals are reported to be out of danger.

Traffic on the Western Express Highway was briefly disrupted but restored after the damaged vehicles were removed by BMC’s emergency recovery team. An FIR has been filed against the truck driver for negligent parking, and further investigation is underway.

Authorities have urged drivers to follow safety protocols, especially while parking on highways, to prevent such mishaps. This accident once again highlights the need for stricter enforcement of road safety rules in Mumbai’s high-traffic zones.
