CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: BetaTANK Robotics Pvt Ltd has introduced the second-generation (2G) robotic solutions for cleaning petroleum crude oil tanks, addressing a long-standing challenge in the industry. These advanced robots are designed to move thick, viscous sludge from large crude oil storage tanks efficiently and safely. Unlike conventional tank cleaning robots that rely solely on suction and face performance limitations, BetaTANK’s robots are equipped with onboard pumps capable of delivering 10 bar pressure, overcoming the inefficiency of 1st generation designs. Each robot, costing around half a million dollars, is hydraulically powered to avoid sparking risks in hazardous environments. In addition, BetaTANK has developed a robot with foldable arms for cleaning underground petrol pump storage tanks. Founder DC Sekhar, an ex-merchant navy oil tanker captain, emphasizes that the petroleum industry has been underserved by robotic solutions, presenting a potential market worth $6–13 billion in the next decade. Certified with IECEx Zone ‘0’ standards and patented, these robots are also attracting enquiries from steel, pharmaceutical, and other sectors seeking safer maintenance operations by eliminating man entry in hazardous tanks. BetaTANK aims to combine pioneering technology with customer-centric solutions for strategic growth.
