CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A special awareness programme under the “De-addiction Campaign” was organised today at Bhabha University. The Bhopal Police Commissioner attended as the chief guest and guided the students.
The aim of the programme was to make young people aware of the harmful effects of addiction and motivate them to adopt a drug-free lifestyle.
Key points from the Police Commissioner’s guidance:
1. “Addiction hollows out both the body and society” – addiction not only damages health but also destroys families and careers.

2. Youth power is the strength of the country – if young people stay away from addiction, the country will progress. They should focus on studies, sports and skills.
3. Support from friends is essential – if any friend is moving towards addiction, stop them and inform their family members and the police.
4. Bhopal Police’s resolve – strict action will be taken against the sale of intoxicants around college campuses. Anyone can share information through the helpline number.
5. An awareness programme on de-addiction was held under the Commissioner’s guidance.

The Commissioner told the students: “Choose a career, not addiction.”
He appealed to young people to stay away from addiction and build a healthy and successful life. He urged students to move ahead with the mantra, “Say no to addiction, say yes to life.”
Those present at the programme included Bhabha University Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr Bharti Satankar, Group Director Dr Manoj Kumar Shukla, Registrar Dr Shyam Patkar, deans of all faculties, professors and a large number of students.
At the end of the programme, all students took a pledge not to consume intoxicants and not to allow others to do so. Students who secured the highest marks in the B.Tech third semester were honoured with certificates by the Police Commissioner. From the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department, the first topper was Shalini Vishwakarma, the second topper was Jamshed Choudhary, and the third toppers were Priyanka Kumari and Sakshi Kumari. From Computer Science and Engineering, the first topper was Sakshi Raut, the second topper was Saba Farheen, and the third topper was Yashika Kumbre. The university administration decided to organise such awareness programmes regularly.
