CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: As in previous years, Bhabha University is organizing National Mathematics Week 2024, which will continue until December 28, to increase students’ interest in mathematics.

This program is sponsored by the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology (MPCST), Bhopal, and the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), New Delhi. The event features quiz competitions, puzzles, rangoli, poster-making contests, and expert talks focusing on various branches of mathematics.

Eminent speakers at the event included Bharat Sharan Singh, Chairperson of the Madhya Pradesh Private University Regulatory Commission, Bhopal; Vikas Kumar Shende, Chief Scientist, Madhya Pradesh Science and Technology, Bhopal; and Ramakant Bhardwaj, Head of Department, Amity University, Kolkata.

Dr. Shyam Patkar, Registrar of Bhabha University, stated that the aim of this program, organized on National Mathematics Day, is to raise awareness about the profound impact of mathematics on our daily lives. In India, National Mathematics Day is celebrated every year on December 22, commemorating the birth anniversary of Dr. Srinivasa Ramanujan. This day honors his unique genius and resilience, teaching us that talent knows no barriers.

Chief Guest Bharat Sharan Singh, in his address, emphasized that this day serves as a reminder of the importance of mathematics in various fields, including science, technology, engineering, medicine, pharmacy, finance, music, art, and crafts. Special Guest Vikas Shende highlighted the life and contributions of Ramanujan. Ramakant Bhardwaj from Amity University, Kolkata, spoke about the role of mathematics in social life.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Shailesh Raghuvanshi, and the event was anchored by Siddharth Saurabh.

The program witnessed the presence of Pro Vice-Chancellor N.K. Agrawal, Group Director Manoj Shukla, all department deans, principals, heads of departments, faculty members, and students.
