CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the 14th day of the 21-day workshop organized at the Central Sanskrit University, Bhopal Campus, renowned scholar Prof. Sadashiv Kumar Dwivedi from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, shared deep insights into the classical Sanskrit text “Bhavaprakasha.”
Prof. Dwivedi explained that Bhavaprakasha offers comprehensive descriptions of both biology and Indian art. The process of human formation (embryology) is described in detail in the seventh chapter of the text. This process aligns with what modern science refers to as medical science. As a living being develops in the mother’s womb, the formation of vital organs, nerves, and life forces such as Prana, Apana, Vyana, Udaan, etc., are elaborately discussed. The text also includes references to metallurgy, which is linked to the creation of life—making it highly relevant for researchers in the field of medicine and life sciences.
The author of Bhavaprakasha, Sharadatanaya, was well-versed in multiple disciplines. He skillfully integrated principles of dramaturgy (Natya Shastra) with scientific elements, thereby contributing to the unfolding of India’s knowledge traditions.
Prof. Dwivedi emphasized the need for research and discussion on such rare classical texts. Understanding them requires a foundation in Sanskrit. By organizing such a significant workshop on the land of knowledge once graced by King Bhoj, the Central Sanskrit University in Bhopal has taken a commendable step in educating students across the country about Bhavaprakasha.
