CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal : Gurdeep Kaur Vasu, a differently-abled woman, was honored by Registrar Sushil Manderia of Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University with a bouquet, shawl, and coconut (symbolic gesture of respect). He also announced that if she chooses to pursue further education from Bhoj University, all her educational expenses would be fully waived by the university.

Gurdeep Kaur is speech-, hearing-, and visually-impaired. Remarkably, she is the first differently-abled woman in India in this category to secure a government job in the Commercial Tax Department.

During her visit, Gurdeep toured the university campus and interacted in sign language with students from the B.Ed. Special Education Department. She also participated in a video interview program at the Electronic Media Production and Research Centre (EMPRC).

Her mother, Manjeet Kaur, shared on the occasion that despite being unable to see, speak, or hear, Gurdeep achieved a government job through sheer determination and strong will.

Registrar Manderia extended his best wishes for Gurdeep Kaur’s future. Also present were her mentor Monika Purohit, Gyanendra Purohit, Secretary of Anand Service Society, Indore, Dr. Hemant Keswal, Director of the Department of Special Education, and Narendra Tripathi, Director of EMPRC.
