CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Under the direction of Collector Priyank Mishra, a district-level NCORD committee meeting was held on Wednesday in the Collectorate auditorium under the chairmanship of Additional Collector Shri Mahendra Singh Kavche. The meeting was aimed at ensuring prevention of narcotic substances and effective control over illegal drug trafficking in Bhopal district.
Additional Collector Kavche reviewed the department-wise action plan to control drug trafficking and other illegal activities in the district. He directed that regular meetings of anti-drug committees formed in all government colleges be held and awareness programmes be conducted for students. He also asked officials to make young people aware of the harmful effects of drug abuse with the help of social media influencers.
The Additional Collector directed the drug inspector to prepare a database of suspicious medical stores and those violating rules, and to conduct regular inspections. He also asked for online tracking software to be developed for de-addiction centres in the district so that treatment and rehabilitation activities at the centres can be monitored effectively.
The meeting held detailed discussions on preventing illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, regular exchange of information between departments, joint investigations in inter-district and inter-state cases, and strict action against suspicious sellers. It was also decided that the NCB would organise training programmes for officials of the police, excise and other related departments. Instructions were issued to keep the list of all government and private de-addiction centres in the district updated and to ensure their regular inspection.
Additional Collector Kavche directed that extensive awareness campaigns be conducted in schools and colleges on the harmful effects of narcotic substances. He also asked that necessary training be provided to concerned officials regarding provisions of the NDPS Act and the procedure for action.
He directed officials to inspect closed factories located around hostels and to ensure regular inspection and monitoring of companies manufacturing chemical substances. He said all concerned departments should work in coordination to effectively curb the illegal drug trade. Officials of NCB Bhopal also provided necessary suggestions and directions through video conferencing during the meeting.
SP IB Bhopal Shri Puneet Govil, ADCP Crime Shri Shailendra Singh Chauhan, RTO Jitendra Sharma, state-level master trainer of the de-addiction campaign Rajiv Tiwari, and officials from the health and social justice departments, voluntary organisations and other related departments were present at the meeting.
