CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: To curb ticketless and irregular travel, the Bhopal division has been conducting regular and surprise ticket-checking drives at various stations and on trains. As part of this effort, three special ticket-checking drives were organised at Ashoknagar, Itarsi and Bhopal railway stations.
At Ashoknagar railway station, a fortress-style ticket-checking drive was held for the first time. During the checking conducted by six ticket-checking staff under the leadership of Chief Ticket Inspector Narendra Jatav, 66 passengers were found travelling without tickets or irregularly. Railway revenue of ₹47,200 was recovered from these passengers.
At Itarsi railway station, a fortress-style ticket-checking drive was conducted under the leadership of Chief Ticket Inspector Hemant Soni with the support of 11 ticket-checking staff. During the inspection, 76 passengers were found travelling without tickets or irregularly, and railway revenue of ₹61,090 was recovered from them.
At Bhopal railway station, an effective ticket-checking exercise was carried out during a railway magistrate inspection by Chief Ticket Inspector Sunil Varghese along with four ticket-checking staff. Railway revenue of ₹18,200 was recovered from passengers travelling without tickets and irregularly.
In all, railway revenue of ₹1,26,490 was recovered from 218 passengers during the three special ticket-checking drives.
During the railway magistrate inspection at Bhopal railway station, a joint team of the Commercial Department, Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police, led by Railway Magistrate, Bhopal, Anurag Khare, also conducted surprise inspections at Bhopal railway station and on trains. The joint team reviewed catering and vending arrangements, cleanliness and food quality in train number 12174 Udyognagari Express and 22538 Kushinagar Express. During the inspection, the quality of food items being provided to passengers and compliance with prescribed standards were checked.
Senior DCM Saurabh Kataria said such surprise ticket-checking drives are being continued to provide passengers with smooth and safe travel, to effectively curb ticketless and irregular travel, and to make passengers aware about travelling with valid tickets.
