CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: To make Bhopal district beggar-free, 8 special teams have been formed that will conduct patrols and carry out raids across the city. A weekly roster for these teams has been prepared. Additionally, a special ward will be set up at Government Hamidia Hospital for the treatment of elderly and ill beggars.
A meeting was held on Friday under the direction of Collector Kaushalendra Vikram Singh, chaired by ADM Prakash Nayak and attended by all SDMs. It was decided that the teams will patrol various sub-divisions of Bhopal as per the prepared roster. These teams will include members from the Police Department, Municipal Corporation, Labour Department, Scheduled Castes and Tribes Department, Women and Child Development Department, and the Department of Social Justice.
The Joint Director of the Social Justice Department informed that Bhopal district has been selected under a sub-scheme of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, with the aim of making the district beggar-free. A special shelter home for the rehabilitation of persons engaged in begging has been established.

To operate this shelter home, proposals have been invited from experienced and capable voluntary organizations/institutions by July 15, 2025, 5 PM. The Collector of Bhopal had earlier issued an order on February 3, 2025, prohibiting both begging and giving alms in the district.
Interested organizations can submit their proposals in person, by post, or via email to the Joint Director, Department of Social Justice and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Shed No. 01, behind Commissioner Office, Old Secretariat, Bhopal, or at pswbho@mp.nic.in.
