CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: On the occasion of “World Environment Day,” the Bhopal Division of West Central Railway organized a week-long series of programs focused on environmental awareness and conservation. The aim of these campaigns was to promote cleanliness, greenery, and sustainable development in railway premises and residential colonies.
Door-to-door awareness drives were conducted in the railway colonies of Bhopal, Itarsi, Bina, and Guna, educating residents on the importance of separating wet and dry waste, avoiding plastic, and maintaining collective cleanliness. Local residents actively participated in cleanliness drives and pledged to maintain a clean environment.
The Commercial Department informed passengers about practices such as cleanliness, plastic-free travel, and digital ticketing. Slogan posters were displayed at stations, and audio announcements conveyed messages of environmental protection.
At the Electric Loco Shed in Itarsi, employees were trained as part of the Environment Awareness Week, and essay and painting competitions were held. At BTC Itarsi, waste management and the functioning of bio-toilets were explained.
The Electrical (General) Department conducted a special awareness campaign on water conservation. Meanwhile, the RPF promoted greenery by planting 315 saplings across the division.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria stated that the objective of these programs is to raise environmental awareness and make railway premises cleaner and greener.
