CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Bhopal Railway Division is committed to providing better service to Divyang passengers and is continuously working to make travel easier for physically disabled passengers. Under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Pankaj Tyagi and the leadership of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria, a total of 1,413 railway Divyang concession cards were issued in the previous financial year. In the first half of the current financial year, up to September, a total of 741 concession cards have been issued. Through these concession cards, Divyang passengers are provided fare concessions as well as the facility to travel with an attendant as per rules.
This step by the Bhopal Railway Division has been taken with the aim of extending the benefit of government concessions to as many eligible passengers as possible. To get a Divyang concession card made, Divyang passengers have to upload a medical certificate issued by the District Medical Officer, one passport-size photograph, Aadhaar card, birth certificate and concession certificate – for a person who cannot travel without an escort, certified by a doctor – on the website https://divyangjanid.indianrail.gov.in. After verification of all documents, the card is issued, and the applicant is informed through an SMS on the mobile phone. Applicants should carefully provide correct information while filling the form.
The details of the issued concession card are updated in the railway software, enabling passengers to avail fare concessions at the time of ticket booking by showing only a photocopy of the concession card. This facility is also available on e-tickets. In the Bhopal Division, passengers seeking more information on getting a railway Divyang concession card made may contact the Divyang Cell on any working day or call the helpline number 9630951262. The Bhopal Railway Division has assured passengers that the railway will continue working to make their journeys smooth and convenient. Such efforts in the interest of Divyang passengers will continue in the future as well.
