CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Bhopal Division Organizes Railway Concession Certificate Camp for Differently-Abled in Rajgarh
In a significant initiative to facilitate accessible railway travel for persons with disabilities, West Central Railway’s Bhopal Division successfully organized Madhya Pradesh’s first “Railway Concession Certificate Camp” in Rajgarh district.
The camp was held at the Seminar Hall of Prime Minister College of Excellence, Rajgarh, under the joint supervision of Bhopal Division and Rajgarh District Administration.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria stated that the camp was conducted by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, during which concession certificates for eligible beneficiaries were issued.
Out of 386 registrations, 141 were completed through the online system. This initiative is seen as a commendable effort to ensure timely and transparent provision of travel concession benefits to eligible railway passengers.
From Bhopal Railway Division, Harris Lal (Chief Office Superintendent, Commercial Branch) and Dr. Jyoti Tiwari (In-charge of the Disability Cell) were present and monitored the entire process. They also ensured thorough verification of the applications and documents of the eligible candidates.
Several medical experts, including Orthopedic Specialist Dr. Rajneesh Sharma, Ophthalmologists Dr. Pradeep Mathur and Dr. Priyanka Yadav, and Mental and Hearing Specialists Dr. Kush Narayan Ghanghoria and Dr. Rajendra Kataria, along with Deputy Director of the Social Justice Department, Arpit Gupta, contributed significantly to the effectiveness of the event.
It was emphasized that only those persons with disabilities who have a valid disability certificate issued by a certified doctor, clearly mentioning the minimum required percentage and escort eligibility, are entitled to railway concessions.
