CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: In line with the programmes scheduled under the World Environment Day–2026 campaign, awareness activities on water conservation, water recycling and energy conservation were organised at various railway establishments and units of Bhopal Division.
Under the campaign, special emphasis was laid on ensuring water recycling wherever possible in railway production units and other railway establishments, and on the prudent use of water resources. The Engineering Department inspected water conservation arrangements at various units and reviewed measures to prevent wastage of water.
In this sequence, a special survey drive was conducted at Diesel Loco Shed, Itarsi, with the objective of preventing water leakage and wastage. During the inspection, sources of water leakage were identified and immediately repaired. This initiative achieved significant success in preventing unnecessary wastage of water and also sensitised employees towards water conservation.
Similarly, awareness programmes on efficient use of water and energy conservation were organised under the Electrical General Department at various offices, depots and workplaces at major locations including Bhopal, Bina, Harda, Itarsi and Guna. During the programmes, employees, passengers and local citizens were informed about the importance of using energy-efficient equipment, adopting LED lighting, using air-conditioning (AC) only as required, and switching off electrical equipment when not in use.
Senior DCM Saurabh Kataria said that conservation of water and energy is not only an important means of protecting the environment, but also of preserving resources for future generations. During the campaign, all participants were urged to make saving water and energy a part of their daily lifestyle.
Bhopal Division will continue to organise various public awareness programmes in the coming days under the World Environment Day–2026 campaign on environmental protection, cleanliness, water conservation and green initiatives.
