CNN Central News & Network – ITDC India E-Press / ITDC News Bhopal: A more effective medication regimen for MDR-TB (Multi-Drug Resistant Tuberculosis) patients has been launched in Bhopal district, marking the beginning of its implementation in the state. This treatment is highly beneficial for patients suffering from multi-drug resistant TB. The BPaLM treatment regimen includes four key drugs: Bedaquiline, Pretomanid, Linezolid, and Moxifloxacin.
Bhopal’s Chief Medical and Health Officer, Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari, stated that research has shown this combination of drugs to be more effective and faster in treatment compared to the previous MDR-TB protocols. While traditional MDR-TB treatments can last up to 20 months, the BPaLM regimen can potentially cure drug-resistant TB within just six to nine months. These medications will be administered as per medical consultation, based on the patient’s condition.
