CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Regional Science Centre, Bhopal (a unit of NCSM) launched two new Mobile Science Exhibition (MSE) buses with the aim of spreading science and igniting curiosity among students. The program was held under the chief guestship of Karunesh Kumar Shukla, Director of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal, who flagged off the buses.
These buses are being referred to as a “Moving Science Museum”, as they represent a unique effort to bring science in an engaging and interactive manner to students in both rural and urban areas. The buses are equipped with working models, experimental setups, and interactive displays that provide students with hands-on learning experiences.

Under this initiative, two theme-based buses were launched:
The first bus, themed “Energy”, was sent to Balaghat district. It features exhibits on various sources of energy, their uses, and conservation. A special device will allow students to measure how much energy their body can generate, which is expected to be a key attraction for children.

The second bus, themed “Measurement”, was sent to Shahdol district. It introduces students to the basic concepts of measurement through activities like measuring a building’s height using shadows, testing the pH level of liquids, and recording body temperature.

In the second session of the program, a “Meet the Scientist” activity was held, where students interacted with Paresh Joshi, Scientist, Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Mumbai. He discussed the importance and necessity of measurement in scientific experiments and explained the scientific principles behind various demonstrations. The event was also live-streamed on the official YouTube channel of the Bhopal Centre.
This initiative is expected to significantly strengthen the reach of science in rural areas and foster a scientific temper among students.
