CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The 81st meeting of the Nagar Rajbhasha Karyanvayan Samiti (Bank), Bhopal, under the aegis of the Central Bank of India, was held with the chief guest Harish Singh Chauhan, Assistant Director, Regional Implementation Office (Central), Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The meeting was presided over by Tarsem Singh Jeera, General Manager, Central Bank of India.
Distinguished guests included Rekha Chandanawale, Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India; Wagh Rai Majhi, Regional Manager, LIC (Central Region); and Qamar Javed, General Manager, NABARD.
Chairperson Tarsem Singh Jeera congratulated the members of banks and insurance companies for their outstanding work in Hindi and the recipients of awards in various competitions. He emphasized that Hindi is understood and spoken by the majority in India. In a democratic setup, it is crucial to use a common language to effectively convey government policies and developmental schemes to all citizens. Hindi fulfills this role by serving as a medium of expression and as a symbol of the nation’s identity.
The chief guest, Harish Singh Chauhan, reviewed ongoing Hindi initiatives in banks and emphasized the need for 100% usage of Hindi in banking operations. He also announced that under the leadership of Tarsem Singh Jeera, the NARAKAS (Bank), Bhopal, has been awarded the “NARAKAS Rajbhasha Samman” for outstanding implementation of the official language policy for the year 2023-24 by the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs. The award will be presented at the Official Language Conference in February 2025.
The program was conducted by Rajeev Tiwari, Member Secretary of NARAKAS (Bank), Bhopal, and Chief Manager of the Central Bank of India. Tiwari highlighted that the primary objective of the meeting was to ensure compliance with the Government of India’s language policy in offices and undertakings of the Central Government, banks, and financial institutions located in Bhopal. It also aimed to create a conducive environment for promoting the use of Hindi.
During the meeting, 44 staff members from 16 banks and 6 insurance companies were honored for their exemplary work in Hindi over the past six months. Additionally, 20 winners of Hindi competitions held by various offices under NARAKAS from July 2024 to January 2025 were felicitated.
