CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: To expand healthcare services in urban areas, 22 new Chief Minister Sanjeevani Clinics are set to be launched in the coming days. The Health Department has already appointed doctors and paramedical staff for these new clinics, and the medical staff have joined their respective institutions. By the end of this year, these 22 new Sanjeevani Clinics will be operational.
The Chief Minister Sanjeevani Clinics, launched by the Madhya Pradesh government to provide basic healthcare services close to home, have proven highly beneficial. Legislators, local representatives, district administration, and the municipal corporation have played a crucial role in establishing these clinics. While legislators provided key guidance in site selection, the municipal corporation swiftly executed construction, and the district collector continuously monitored the progress. These new centers will offer all essential healthcare services.
Public representatives have urged the administration to start delivering services without waiting for formal inaugurations and to gradually inaugurate each clinic so that citizens can become fully aware of the available services. The Department of Public Health and Medical Education is making continuous efforts to expand healthcare services in urban areas through Sanjeevani Clinics. The Health Department, in collaboration with the municipal corporation, has built new Sanjeevani clinic buildings for this purpose.
In addition to treating common ailments like colds, coughs, and fevers, these clinics offer prenatal care, family welfare services, vaccination, adolescent health services, elderly health services, pediatric care, diabetes and hypertension management, and screening for infectious diseases. A total of 208 types of medicines and 80 types of pathology tests are available for free at these centers. Moreover, on-call specialist doctors are being made available to provide expert care to patients near their homes.
Notably, the first Sanjeevani Clinic in Bhopal district was inaugurated on December 7, 2019, in Priyadarshini Nagar, Ward No. 46. Currently, 46 Sanjeevani Clinics are operational in Bhopal, serving 452,331 beneficiaries in 2023-24. So far, over 200,000 beneficiaries have received services in the 2024-25 period.
Chief Medical and Health Officer of Bhopal, Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari, stated that staff appointments have been made for all 22 new Sanjeevani Clinics. Medicines, equipment, and most resources have been provided to these institutions, and the work on some additional clinics is still underway. Once completed, they will be operational by the end of this year.
