CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Divisional Commissioner Sanjeev Singh stated that under the ongoing Jal Ganga Conservation Campaign in the state, large-scale tree plantation will be carried out in Bhopal city as per the action plans prepared by the concerned departments. This campaign will commence on World Environment Day, June 5. All related departments must coordinate to plant trees in various parks and green areas of the city. Special attention must be paid to the quality and maintenance of the saplings to ensure maximum survival and growth.

Divisional Commissioner Sanjeev Singh discussed the detailed plantation plan and issued directions in a meeting held today at the Commissioner’s office. The meeting was attended by Municipal Commissioner Harendra Narayan, Joint Commissioner Vikas Vinod Yadav, and officials from the Forest Department, Municipal Corporation, Capital Project, Smart City, and other departments.

He directed that all parks in the city be mapped and geo-tagged, including details like park name, area, municipal zone and ward name, water source for irrigation, and the name and contact number of the caretaker officials or staff. Tree plantation should also be conducted in urban areas outside the municipal limits through a separate action plan.

The Municipal Commissioner informed that Bhopal city has 157 parks under the Municipal Corporation. Additionally, gardens managed by the Smart City project, Capital Project, and Forest Department are also available. Five areas including Kalia Sot and Khanu Village have been selected for massive plantation. Other parks will also see plantation activities.

Divisional Commissioner Singh further directed continuous efforts to remove pollution from various water bodies in the city. A Municipal Corporation officer informed that Bhopal has a total of 12 lakes, none of which receive polluted water from industrial sources.
