CNN Central News and Network–ITDC India ePress/ITDC News Bhopal: Periodic overhauling of coaches is being carried out with consistent excellence at the Bhopal rail workshop of West Central Railway. Under the guidance of the Chief Workshop Manager, the maintenance depot recorded notable performance by successfully completing periodic overhauling (POH) of 96 coaches in April, the first month of the current financial year 2026-27, and 94 coaches in May.
Notably, in the previous financial year 2025-26, the Passenger Coach Reconstruction Workshop, Bhopal, of West Central Railway carried out maintenance of 1,336 coaches. Under the continuous monitoring of senior officers, the Bhopal workshop management achieved this success through team spirit and a well-planned work strategy.
During periodic overhauling, the body and undergear of coaches are repaired to ensure maximum operational safety. All critical parts of the trolley bogie are repaired, which are extremely important from the safety point of view.
The air brake system, buffer and other structural equipment are also repaired so that passengers can experience a jerk-free and safe journey. Maintenance and repair of wheels and axles are carried out to further strengthen operational safety.
