CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Indian fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has returned to India’s T20 International squad after nearly four years. He has been included in the Indian team for the upcoming five-match T20 series against New Zealand. Experience, strong performances in the IPL and his ability to swing the ball in New Zealand conditions are being seen as key factors behind his comeback.
India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak, reacting to Bhuvneshwar’s return, said that despite good performances by young bowlers, a team needs experienced players. He also mentioned Jasprit Bumrah’s absence. According to Kotak, experience becomes very important when young bowlers are facing pressure at the international level.
Bhuvneshwar played an important role in Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s title successes in IPL 2025 and 2026. Across the two seasons, he took a total of 45 wickets, including 28 wickets in the 2026 season. His consistent performances strengthened the case for his return to the national team.
Bhuvneshwar played his last T20 International for India against New Zealand in November 2022. In the upcoming series, his swing bowling and experience could strengthen India’s fast-bowling attack. However, his role in the final XI will depend on team combination and conditions.
