CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Bihar government has approved a proposal to establish two new universities in the field of higher education. The proposals related to the establishment of the two universities were approved at a meeting of the Council of Ministers chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on September 23, 2026. Both universities will be established under the Bihar Special Universities Act, 2026.
According to the Cabinet decision, Ramdhari Singh Dinkar University will be established in Begusarai. The university’s jurisdiction will include the relevant affiliated and constituent colleges in Begusarai and Khagaria districts. However, colleges affiliated with Kameshwar Singh Sanskrit University, Darbhanga, will not fall under its jurisdiction. An amount of Rs 15 crore has been approved for the establishment of the university and administrative expenses, including staff salaries.
Meanwhile, Mata Sita Women’s University will be established in Patna. It will be Bihar’s first dedicated women’s university. Its jurisdiction will include affiliated and constituent women’s colleges in Patna district, while women’s colleges affiliated with Patna University will remain outside its ambit. Administrative approval of Rs 15 crore has also been granted for this university.
In the Cabinet meeting, a total of 24 proposals related to education, police, health, dairy development and other departments were approved. The establishment of the new universities is expected to increase institutional options for higher education in Bihar.
