CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: There is major relief news for lakhs of families affected by floods in Bihar. The government of Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary is today, 15 September 2026, transferring assistance of Rs 7,000 each to the bank accounts of affected families through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). According to reports, more than 8 lakh families are expected to receive financial assistance in this phase.
The amount is being provided to offer immediate relief to flood-affected people and help with essential household expenses. Relief and rescue operations are also continuing from the government side. Relief camps have been set up in several affected areas, and arrangements are being made to move people to safer places.
The flood situation in Bihar remains serious. In several districts, the water levels of rivers are near or above the danger mark. In such circumstances, the government’s priority is to ensure that financial assistance and essential relief materials reach affected families.
Meanwhile, a central government team is also set to reach Bihar to assess the damage caused by the floods. The team will inspect the affected areas and submit a report to the Centre, after which additional assistance is expected.
