CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Patna. The Bihar government is planning to send selected teachers from government schools abroad as part of efforts to improve the state’s education system. The objective is to familiarise teachers with teaching methods, modern technology and student assessment practices being adopted internationally. Along with this, the state’s new assistant professors are also planned to be trained at reputed foreign universities.

Which school teachers will get the opportunity? Preparations are being made to give priority to teachers working in Bihar’s government schools who, along with classroom teaching, play an active role in other academic activities of their schools. During selection, aspects such as teachers’ academic qualifications, their classroom performance and their initiative in adopting new teaching methods may be considered. Interested teachers will be able to apply through the District Education Officer (DEO). However, the final criteria for the selection of school teachers have not yet been announced. The Education Department is preparing to finalise the selection process and related rules after Chhath Puja.

What will teachers learn abroad? Selected teachers will get an opportunity to understand teaching methods in schools abroad. This may include subjects such as modern teaching techniques, evaluation of students’ homework, use of digital tools in the classroom, and the conduct of co-curricular activities along with studies. Teachers will also get an opportunity to understand how foreign schools communicate with parents and how they monitor students’ academic progress. After the training, teachers will have to submit a report on their experiences and the methods they learned to the Education Department, so that the possibilities of adopting useful practices in Bihar’s schools can be explored.

Training for 100 new assistant professors too: Apart from school teachers, the Bihar government is also working on an international training plan in the field of higher education. Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary had announced at a programme for newly appointed assistant professors that 100 out of 2,451 new assistant professors would be selected for training and academic orientation programmes at reputed educational institutions abroad. These teachers are planned to be trained at Oxford and other leading international universities. The objective is to improve the quality of teaching in higher education, encourage research activities and familiarise teachers with modern academic methods. The state government is planning to bear the cost of this training.

Wait for the official notice before applying: The final selection criteria for school teachers’ foreign visits, the countries concerned and the application deadline are yet to be announced. Interested teachers should therefore keep an eye on the official notification from the Education Department. Detailed information related to eligibility and application will be clear only after the selection process is announced. The aim of this initiative by the government is to strengthen the teaching system in Bihar and provide teachers with new academic experiences. If the methods learned during training are implemented according to local needs, students and educational institutions may benefit from it.
