CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Bhopal: An alert has been issued in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, over a possible storm and strong winds on October 28 and 29. During the change in weather, wind speeds are feared to reach up to 80 kilometres per hour.

In view of the potential risk, the administration and related departments have been instructed to remain on alert. To keep the power supply running smoothly and deal with emergency situations, leave for electricity department employees has been cancelled.

Hospitals have also been placed on alert in view of the weather warning, so that patients can receive timely treatment in any emergency. Health institutions have been directed to maintain necessary preparedness and keep emergency services active.

The administration is emphasising coordination among the concerned departments to reduce possible damage. Strong winds may cause problems such as falling trees, snapped power lines, disruption to traffic and interruptions in electricity supply. In such circumstances, deployment of electricity department employees and a rapid repair system will be important.

Meanwhile, according to available information, it has been decided to keep schools open today. Students and parents are advised to keep watch for notices issued by schools and instructions from the district administration. If weather conditions change, a decision may be taken at the local level.

The administration has appealed to people to avoid standing in open areas, near weak structures, electric poles and under trees during strong winds. In any emergency, people should contact the concerned departments and follow the official weather warnings.
