CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has arrested a Chief Commercial Clerk of the railways at the Kargiroad railway reservation centre in Bilaspur on allegations of ticket touting. During the RPF action, 15 railway tickets worth more than Rs 76,000, a mobile phone and material related to conversations on WhatsApp were seized from the accused.
According to the preliminary investigation, the accused is alleged to have taken commission from passengers in exchange for arranging tickets. It has been stated that he used to prepare tickets by charging about Rs 200 to Rs 300 as commission on each ticket. After receiving information about the matter, the RPF increased surveillance and took action, taking the accused into custody.
The mobile phone and WhatsApp chats seized during the investigation are also being examined. Officials suspect that details of transactions linked to ticket bookings and contacts with other people may emerge from this digital evidence.
The RPF has begun investigating the case on the basis of the seized tickets and other documents. The RPF is continuing surveillance and action to check irregularities in the railway reservation system and ticket touting. The role of other people may also emerge on the basis of further investigation in the case.
