CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: An apprenticeship training programme on the possibilities of bioinformatics in the context of NEP 2020 was organised by the Department of Biotechnology, Barkatullah University, Bhopal, up to 06 October 2026. Twenty-two participants from Sant Hirdaram Girls College, Sant Hirdaram Nagar, Bhopal, took part in the programme.
At the workshop, Dr Kishor K. Shende, Dr R. K. Garg, Dr Anita Tilwari, Dr Rekha Khandia of Barkatullah University, Bhopal, Dr Abin Mani of People’s University, Bhopal, Dr Khushali Maneria of MANIT, Bhopal, Dr Divya of Bengaluru, Dr Ashwini Mishra of Indore, Dr Neha Arya of AIIMS, Bhopal, and Dr Aniket Gade of UDCT, Mumbai, delivered lectures on various related topics and provided practical training.
At the closing ceremony on 06 October 2026, Prof Akhilesh Pandey, former Vice-Chancellor of Vikram University, Ujjain, drew students’ attention to the BioE3 Policy. He stressed the need to revise accessible processes and measures, with the support of bioinformatics, to bring air pollution down to a lower level.
Prof S. B. Singh, Registrar, Barkatullah University, suggested the need to link his subject, economics, with biological information systems and pursue progress through biological economics, which could advance national economic development.
Prof Neeraj Gaur, Director, BUIT, said on the occasion that bioinformatics is a multidisciplinary subject. Therefore, through multidisciplinary research, education and training, students can update their knowledge.
The trainee students’ bioinformatics knowledge acquired during the training was tested through online multiple-choice questions. Thereafter, the guests present and Prof Ragini Gothalwal, Head of the Department of Biotechnology, presented certificates to the participants and encouraged them to take part in more workshops for a bright future.
Teachers, guest teachers and research scholars from the university’s Faculty of Life Sciences were present at the programme.
