Bhopal, CNN Central News and Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The two-day workshop, Basics of Biotechnology, organized by the Innovation Hub in Bhopal, concluded successfully at the Regional Science Centre. Students from Class 11 to college level participated enthusiastically in the workshop.
The objective of the workshop was to familiarize students with the basic principles of biotechnology and experimental techniques. During the programme, participants were given practical training in microbial culture, serial dilution, the disc diffusion method, testing of natural bioactive substances, and other laboratory techniques.
As part of the workshop, students tested the antibacterial properties of natural substances such as clove, black pepper, garlic and neem, and studied their effects. Through microscopes, participants observed bacterial colonies and understood the structure of microorganisms and the process of their growth. In addition, students were shown a real preserved dragonfly specimen, through which they received important information related to the physical structure of insects, adaptation and biodiversity.
During the workshop, participants gained hands-on experience with scientific instruments and laboratory procedures, which further developed their interest in scientific research, observation skills and innovation. Expert trainers also provided detailed information on various applications of biotechnology, microbiology and its future possibilities.
In the concluding session, participants were awarded certificates for their active participation in the workshop. Students described the workshop as highly informative and inspiring and expressed the expectation that such training programmes would continue to be organized in the future.
The Regional Science Centre, Bhopal, organizes various educational and training programmes from time to time with the aim of increasing awareness of science among students and the general public and promoting practical knowledge of scientific concepts.
