CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The 150th birth anniversary of Birsa Munda was celebrated at Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication (MCNUJC). Under the guidance of the University’s Chancellor Vijay Manohar Tiwari, the program was held at the Martand Auditorium in the Bishan Khedi campus. The event began with garlanding the portrait of Birsa Munda and lighting of the ceremonial lamp. The program was conducted by Office Superintendent Aditya Jain.

In his introduction, Assistant Registrar Girish Joshi stated that Birsa Munda was a great tribal leader, freedom fighter, and social reformer. He fought numerous battles for the welfare of the tribal community and is known as the Father of the Earth (Dharti Awa). He called for the overthrow of British rule, which turned into a significant people’s movement.

During the program, Producer Dr. Ramdeen Tyagi said that Birsa Munda’s life was a struggle against injustice. By the age of 25, he had educated the tribal community about the importance of water, forests, and land, while also working to strengthen them socially, economically, and politically.

Presiding over the ceremony, Registrar Prof. P. Shashikala highlighted that the teachings of Birsa Munda remain highly relevant today and stated that embracing his principles on his 150th birth anniversary would be a true tribute to him.

The program was attended by department heads, faculty members, officers, and staff in large numbers, reflecting the university’s respect and homage to the legacy of Birsa Munda.
