CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News /Agencies/ Delhi: New Delhi: A political controversy has arisen over the bus in which Rahul Gandhi arrived at the INDIA bloc’s mega rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan. The Delhi BJP has alleged that the bus was violating pollution-control rules in force in the capital. Party media head and spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor has sent a complaint to the Delhi Police Commissioner, seeking action against the vehicle.

According to the BJP, the bus bears registration number RJ 25 PA 2151 and is registered with the Sawai Madhopur RTO in Rajasthan. The party claims it is a BS-3 category diesel bus, while under Delhi’s new pollution-control rules in force from November 1, petrol and diesel vehicles registered in other states and below BS-6 standards are barred from entering the city.

The complaint also alleges that the bus’s fitness validity had expired on September 20, 2026, and that its pollution under control certificate (PUC) was valid only until February 28, 2026. The BJP spokesperson has requested the police to examine the vehicle’s documents and take action as per rules, including seizing it.

Restrictions imposed in Delhi to reduce pollution during winter include a ban on non-BS-6 petrol and diesel vehicles from outside states. A valid pollution certificate and compliance with prescribed emission standards are also mandatory.

However, the allegations relating to the bus’s documents and violation of rules are currently based on the BJP’s complaint. Details of any police or transport department inquiry and official action in the matter are still awaited.
