CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A district-level Road Safety Committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Collector Priyank Mishra, in which a concrete and time-bound action plan to reduce road accidents was discussed. The meeting directed that all identified black spots in urban and rural areas should be jointly inspected by a combined team and immediate corrective actions must be ensured.
Collector Mishra issued clear instructions that short-term measures—such as road markings, signage, speed breakers, zebra crossing painting, speed controllers, and visibility improvement works—must be completed within one month to achieve an immediate reduction in accidents. He also directed that long-term corrective works be completed within the stipulated time frame.
He instructed the Municipal Corporation, traffic police, and other construction agencies to ensure regular field inspections by the joint road safety committee team, monitor the progress of works, and mandatorily complete all short-term works at each black spot within one month.
The meeting also placed special emphasis on the effective implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Rahat Rahveer Yojana. The Collector directed that free and prompt medical assistance should be provided to road accident victims during the “golden hour” (first one hour), and all concerned departments must play a sensitive and active role in this regard.
In addition, instructions were given to take strict action against traffic violations such as riding without helmets and using mobile phones while driving through the Smart City Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS).
The meeting was attended by the Additional District Magistrate, Additional Police Commissioner Monika Shukla, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Pankaj Kumar Pandey, ADM Prakash Nayak, officials from MPRDC, NHAI, and other concerned departments.
