CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Delhi: Blue Dart Express Limited and the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore the movement of express parcels on the Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut Namo Bharat corridor. The collaboration aims to examine how regional rail connectivity can complement Blue Dart’s existing pickup and delivery network across the National Capital Region.
Under the proposed initiative, the two organisations will assess the operational requirements, expected parcel volumes, station facilities, service standards and commercial arrangements needed to determine the feasibility of the model. The study will also examine the potential movement of e-commerce consignments and other urban cargo through the Namo Bharat infrastructure.
The 82-kilometre corridor connects Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut. Its multimodal connectivity includes links at Sarai Kale Khan with Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station and an inter-state bus terminal, while Anand Vihar station is connected with the railway station and two inter-state bus terminals. These connections could support movement between major transport hubs and businesses across the NCR.
Blue Dart Managing Director Balfour Manuel said the MoU provides an opportunity to examine how Namo Bharat’s semi-high-speed regional connectivity could be integrated with the company’s pickup and delivery capabilities. The company said the initiative could contribute to developing more sustainable logistics solutions.
NCRTC Managing Director Shalabh Goel said the partnership would explore how Namo Bharat infrastructure could also contribute to the freight ecosystem while supporting regional connectivity. NCRTC has highlighted the potential of the initiative to make more efficient use of existing infrastructure and support urban cargo movement.
The collaboration is part of efforts to explore multimodal logistics solutions in the NCR and could provide a framework for integrating regional rail connectivity with established express delivery networks, subject to the outcome of the feasibility assessment.
