CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Eye Donation Fortnight, organized at Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC) till September 8, concluded successfully. The main objective of this fortnight was to spread awareness in society about the importance of eye donation and to inspire people to come forward for this noble cause. During the closing ceremony, the families of eye donors and winners of various competitions were felicitated. Throughout the fortnight, a large number of people pledged to donate their eyes, and one actual eye donation also took place.
BMHRC’s Acting Director, Dr. Manisha Srivastava, said that such programs are instrumental in increasing awareness among the general public. She appealed to patients visiting the hospital and their families to understand the importance of eye donation and take a pledge for it.

Head of the Ophthalmology Department, Hemlata Yadav, informed that during the fortnight, an extensive awareness campaign was carried out among the public, students, and healthcare workers. Through the “Drishti Rath,” people across different parts of the city were motivated to pledge their eyes.
Major programs during the fortnight included:
Awareness Rally: Flagged off on August 25 by Dr. Manisha Srivastava.

Launch of Drishti Rath: To educate people across the city about the importance of eye donation.
Awareness Programs: Organized at DB Mall, government schools, and Government Sandeepani Higher Secondary School.
School Sessions and Plays: Students and hospital visitors were educated about the significance of eye donation.
To promote eye donation, BMHRC encouraged active participation from citizens, students, and staff. The fortnight proved successful in spreading awareness about the importance of eye donation in society.
