CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC) has taken a significant step toward revolutionizing the treatment of mental health disorders by signing a major Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Canadian artificial intelligence (AI) specialist firm Orange Neurosciences.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Manisha Srivastava, Director In-Charge of BMHRC, and Vinay Singh, President of Orange Neurosciences.

With this collaboration, BMHRC becomes the first institution in Madhya Pradesh to implement AI tools for the identification and treatment of mental health disorders. Both institutions will also jointly engage in research related to mental health and AI applications.

Dr. Srivastava explained that until now, diagnosis of mental illnesses was primarily based on traditional methods such as patient interviews, forms, and counseling, which made the process time-consuming and required frequent hospital visits.

Now, AI-powered tools, including web-based applications with interfaces resembling video games, will analyze patient behavior and provide precise mental health assessments, enabling faster diagnosis and improved treatment outcomes.

Orange Neurosciences will provide these tools free of cost, and hospital psychiatrists and clinical psychologists will be trained to use them. The tools will aid in the detection and treatment of conditions such as depression, ADHD, autism, and dyslexia.

A Digital Cognitive Therapy Center is being set up at BMHRC, where these AI tools will be systematically deployed. However, treatment using the available tools will begin even before the center is fully established.

According to Dr. Rupesh Ranjan, the integration of AI will not only accelerate diagnosis but also enhance treatment quality, reduce the need for frequent hospital visits, and allow doctors to dedicate more time to each patient.
