CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: At the ongoing Bhopal Science Fair at Jamboree Maidan, the stall set up by Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC) has been drawing significant interest from students and the general public. Over 500 visitors have attended the stall and participated in various sessions held there. These sessions aim to raise awareness about diseases such as cancer, diabetes, blood pressure, and mental health issues.
BMHRC’s Acting Director, Manisha Srivastava, stated that their objective in participating in the fair is to educate people about their health. As part of this initiative, sessions on various prevalent health topics and diseases are being conducted. On Sunday, the hospital’s physiotherapy department conducted a session for students, teaching them how to avoid neck and back pain by maintaining the correct posture while studying, working on computers, and carrying school or college bags properly.
Additionally, office workers were provided guidance on maintaining proper posture to prevent neck and back pain and related conditions. Doctors from the hospital’s surgical oncology department educated visitors about breast cancer, while the pulmonary medicine department provided information on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Psychiatry experts discussed the harmful effects of substance abuse and ways to avoid it. The hospital also organized a camp for screening blood-borne diseases such as sickle cell anemia and thalassemia.
Dr. Puneet Gandhi, Head of the Research Department and leader of BMHRC’s team at the science fair, mentioned that visitors have shown great enthusiasm for the topics covered in the sessions. On Friday and Saturday, sessions focused on women’s health issues, diabetes, blood pressure, and dietary improvements. On Monday, a session on raising awareness about eye donation is planned.
Additionally, a yoga camp was organized for visitors to the exhibition. Over 150 participants received yoga training during the two-day camp.
