CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Bhopal’s Member of Parliament, Alok Sharma, honored doctors, inaugurated a Hindi magazine, worshiped Lord Dhanvantari, and dedicated an HPLC machine at BMHRC. He also paid homage at the memorial for gas tragedy victims.
In his speech, MP Alok Sharma expressed his dedication to improving BMHRC, stating, “I consider myself a part of BMHRC. For 25 years, this hospital has provided excellent services. Together, we will make it even better, ensuring the availability of all necessary machines and equipment. I will approve any proposals aimed at the welfare of patients and the enhancement of BMHRC.” He addressed hospital staff during the Doctor Honor Ceremony held at BMHRC on Tuesday. Attending the event with Mr. Sharma were BMHRC’s Acting Director Manisha Srivastava, Medical Superintendent Anurag Yadav, and other hospital officials.
During his visit, Mr. Sharma first offered tribute at the Bhopal Gas Tragedy Memorial within the hospital and planted saplings in the memorial complex. On Dhanvantari Jayanti, he performed a ritual worship of Lord Dhanvantari at the OPD complex before touring the hospital and interacting with patients. He expressed satisfaction with the services provided to patients and then proceeded to the pathology department, where he inaugurated the HPLC machine used for glycosylated hemoglobin testing.
Following this, he unveiled the first edition of BMHRC’s Hindi magazine Sanvahan in an auditorium ceremony. During the event, he also honored BMHRC’s doctors on behalf of the Environmental, Cultural Preservation, and Human Welfare Trust.
Manisha Srivastava, Acting Director of BMHRC, expressed gratitude for Mr. Sharma’s visit, stating that BMHRC is committed to offering excellent care to gas victims and other patients. She highlighted that this is the hospital’s silver jubilee year, with over one crore patient visits recorded over the past 25 years. The institute contributes to the government’s missions for eradicating sickle cell disease and tuberculosis.
In his address, Mr. Sharma noted, “I witnessed the Bhopal gas tragedy firsthand; it was a harrowing scene. I commend BMHRC for serving gas victims and other patients for the last 25 years. My efforts are directed toward moving Bhopal beyond its tragic image and assuring the health of its residents.”
Inauguration of the HPLC Machine
Mr. Sharma inaugurated the new advanced HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography) machine in the pathology department, essential for glycosylated hemoglobin testing for diabetes, as well as for thalassemia and sickle cell anemia screening.
