CNN Central News and Network – ITDC India Express / ITDC News Bhopal:
As per the directives of the Central Government, Bhopal Memorial Hospital & Research Centre (BMHRC), Bhopal is observing a “Cleanliness Fortnight” until 15 April 2026. The campaign aims to maintain a clean and healthy campus while raising awareness about hygiene among employees and the general public.
As part of the Cleanliness Fortnight, on Wednesday, Dr. Rajiv Bahl, Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), administered a cleanliness pledge to employees of all ICMR-affiliated institutions, including BMHRC, through video conferencing. BMHRC’s In-Charge Director, Manisha Srivastava, was also present on this occasion.
Srivastava stated that various activities will be conducted during the fortnight to strengthen cleanliness, waste management, and environmental protection within the institution. An E-Waste Management Committee has also been formed to ensure the safe disposal of unused electronic equipment from different departments.
A special campaign will be launched to make the campus polythene-free, encouraging employees, patients, and visitors to adopt eco-friendly alternatives. To increase participation among staff, inter-departmental cleanliness competitions will be organized, and departments demonstrating outstanding performance will be awarded.
Additionally, expert lectures on biomedical waste management, extensive campus and residential area cleanliness drives, and community awareness programs by nursing students will be conducted. Considering the health of sanitation workers, health check-up camps, Hepatitis-B vaccination, distribution of hygiene kits, and yoga sessions will also be organized.
Srivastava emphasized that cleanliness is not just a campaign but a collective responsibility, and only with everyone’s cooperation can a clean, safe, and healthy environment be ensured.
