CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC) and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhopal signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) today to promote research. AIIMS Bhopal Executive Director Lt Gen (Retd) Narendra Kotwal and BMHRC in-charge Director Manisha Srivastava signed the MoU on Tuesday.
Under the MoU, BMHRC and AIIMS Bhopal will jointly identify new research opportunities and work on joint research projects in areas of mutual interest. The two institutions will especially take forward research linked to the use of AI in the field of mental health. They will also jointly conduct research on non-communicable diseases such as cancer, diabetes and hypertension.
In addition, work will be carried out on the possibilities of linking AI with medical imaging and electronic health records (EHR) for better patient care. Efforts will also be made to develop AI-based diagnostic and decision-support systems using pathology, radiology and other related health data.
According to the agreement, scientists and faculty members of both institutions will jointly prepare research projects and will also be able to send joint proposals for research funding from various agencies. Both institutions will provide opportunities for their experts to work together in important areas of research.
The two institutions will also explore possibilities of cooperation in seminars, workshops, conferences, exchange of students and faculty, and other scientific activities.
The MoU has initially been signed for five years. It will help take forward new research activities by using the expertise of both institutions and strengthen the possibilities for better use of AI in health services.
