CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: During an inspection today by a Municipal Corporation team of a garbage container kept outside the main gate of BMHRC, it came to light that some biomedical waste was found in it. Taking the matter seriously, the BMHRC administration immediately summoned its housekeeping agency, sought an explanation and directed necessary action. Following this, the housekeeping agency terminated the services of the two supervisors concerned with immediate effect.
The fine of Rs 50,000 imposed by the Municipal Corporation has also been paid by the housekeeping agency concerned.
The BMHRC administration wishes to clarify that the institution ensures compliance with the prescribed rules and procedures for biomedical waste management. A system is in place at the institution to collect biomedical waste separately according to the prescribed categories and ensure its proper disposal.
The institution has taken seriously the incident of biomedical waste being found in the general garbage container located outside the main gate. An inquiry is being conducted into how and under what circumstances the biomedical waste reached there. Necessary action will be taken on the basis of the inquiry.
The BMHRC administration has directed the housekeeping agency to further strengthen the monitoring system and the waste segregation process to prevent any recurrence of such an incident in the future. The employees concerned are also being given necessary instructions regarding proper segregation and disposal of biomedical waste. In addition, the general waste containers will be kept at designated places within the institute premises, and the monitoring system for them will be further strengthened.
