Significant positive changes have taken place in healthcare services at the Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC), greatly benefiting patients visiting the facility. This was stated by Mayor Malti Rai of Bhopal during her address at the auditorium of BMHRC on the ninth day of the ‘Healthy Woman, Empowered Family’ campaign.

Mayor Rai planted saplings in the BMHRC campus and inaugurated the Breast Cancer Clinic. She also observed the awareness program in the Physiotherapy Department focused on back pain and urinary incontinence among women. In her speech, the Mayor said that BMHRC has implemented commendable initiatives under the ‘Empowered Woman, Empowered Family’ campaign, going beyond merely following governmental directives.
She emphasized that women manage their familial responsibilities along with other obligations, and a healthy female population ensures empowered families, which in turn will help India emerge as a leading self-reliant nation by 2047. BMHRC is making commendable efforts in this direction.
Dr. Manisha Srivastava, In-charge Director, stated that BMHRC is actively working on TB, sickle cell anemia, cervical cancer, and oral cancer eradication. They are conducting extensive programs to make the campaign for healthy families and a healthy India more effective. During the fortnight, all health centers under BMHRC offered special screening and counseling camps for women and adolescent girls, along with treatment facilities.

Adolescent Health and Hygiene Day Celebrations:
On the ninth day of the campaign, BMHRC health centers celebrated Adolescent Health and Hygiene Day. Awareness programs were conducted for girls on menstrual hygiene, and Anemia-Free India hemoglobin testing camps were organized. Girls were provided guidance on proper nutrition and iron supplements were distributed.
At the hospital campus, special OPD services were arranged under awareness campaigns for breast, oral, and cervical cancers. Programs included awareness sessions and exercises for back pain and urinary incontinence among women, eye disease camps, and free pain management camps for women.
