CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India ePress / ITDC News / Agencies, Bhopal: Security agencies have been put on alert after a bomb blast threat was received ahead of Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming concert in Indore. Threatening emails have been sent to three private schools in the city and the office of Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava. The emails warned of an explosion during the concert proposed for November 15. According to some reports, the threatening message also mentioned targeting Mumbai-based actor Amitabh Bachchan’s bungalow “Jalsa”.
According to police, the emails were sent in Punjabi. They warned school managements not to send their children to Diljit’s concert, saying a bomb blast would take place there. The emails were allegedly sent in the name of the “Khalistani National Army”.
After the threat was received, bomb disposal squads searched the premises of all three schools. No explosive or suspicious object was found during the searches. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Dandotia said the initial investigation suggests the emails may be fake, but police are treating the matter seriously and examining technical evidence.
The Crime Branch is working to identify the sender of the emails. Police have also sought information from the relevant platform for the technical investigation. Officials said legal action will be taken against those responsible after the investigation is completed.
Diljit Dosanjh’s concert is proposed for November 15 at C-21 Ground in Indore. According to police, the organisers of the programme had not yet contacted police for permission to hold the event. For now, the investigation is continuing to establish the authenticity of the threat and identify the people behind it.
