CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: The Bombay High Court is set to get a new majestic complex in Bandra, Mumbai, with a blend of modern facilities and heritage-style architecture. Spread over 30 acres, the upcoming court complex will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹3,750 crore, making it one of the largest judicial infrastructure projects in India.

According to officials, the new complex is designed to ease the burden on the iconic British-era Bombay High Court building in south Mumbai, which has been in use since 1862. The Bandra project aims to accommodate the ever-increasing number of cases, lawyers, and litigants while ensuring state-of-the-art infrastructure without compromising on the court’s historic legacy.

The architecture of the complex will follow the grand old Gothic style, paying homage to the current High Court building’s heritage character. Apart from courtrooms, the complex will also feature chambers for lawyers, mediation centers, record-keeping facilities, and modern amenities to enhance judicial efficiency.

Urban planners have highlighted that the complex will also focus on sustainability with green zones, solar energy usage, and advanced digital systems to facilitate virtual hearings.

The project is expected to significantly decongest the current High Court premises and improve the ease of access for litigants coming from the suburban belt. Once completed, it will be a landmark not only for Mumbai but also for India’s judicial system, striking a balance between heritage preservation and modern needs.
