CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: A book exhibition was organised by the Indian Knowledge Tradition Cell at Sarojini Naidu Government Girls College to acquaint students with Indian knowledge, culture, tradition and life values.
The exhibition featured books on various subjects related to the Indian knowledge tradition, philosophy, culture, history, literature, yoga, Ayurveda, science and Indian thought. Books published by the college’s faculty members were also displayed. The students participated enthusiastically, browsed the books and obtained information on various subjects connected with the Indian knowledge tradition.
Addressing the students on the occasion, the chief guest of the programme, Principal Dr Pratima Yadav, said books are not only a medium of knowledge but also a powerful means of connecting with our culture, traditions and outlook on life. She said the scientific approach, human values and practical ideas embedded in the Indian knowledge tradition continue to inspire students even today.
Cell in-charge Dr Nisha Jain said the aim of the book exhibition was to develop an interest in reading among students, create curiosity about India’s knowledge heritage and connect them with the country’s rich cultural tradition. The students of the college showed special interest in the exhibition and gathered information about various books.
The college community appreciated the effort of the Indian Knowledge Tradition Cell, saying such events play an important role in the intellectual and cultural development of students and serve as a medium to connect them with knowledge, thought and values.
At the book exhibition, published books by faculty members from various departments were kept for students’ learning. These included Dr Aparna Badal, Dr Krishna Bihari Rai and Dr Sanjeev Jain from the Hindi department; Dr Nisha Jain and Dr Kirti Verma from the sociology department; Dr Lakshmi Agnihotri and Dr Bhavana Ramaiya from the home science department; Dr Deepti Sankat and Dr Sanjay Sahay from the botany department; Dr Renuka Rana from the commerce department; Dr Preeti Pachauri and Dr Barkhaniya from the economics department; Dr Seema Pathak from the political science department; Dr Shabana Nikhat Ansari from the Urdu department; and Dr P.K. Khare from the philosophy department.
Certificates and prizes were given to students who secured positions in competitions held during Hindi Fortnight, including essay writing, speech, debate, quiz, recitation of self-composed poems and self-composed story writing. The programme was conducted by cell member Dr Pallavi Pandey. Cell in-charge Dr Nisha Jain expressed gratitude to all cell members, all faculty members of the college and the students.
The book exhibition organised at the college is expected to benefit students and give them a new direction for acquiring knowledge.
