/ Agencies:
Former BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has triggered a political controversy with a sharp remark aimed at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Reacting to a comment made by Rahul Gandhi, Brij Bhushan said Rahul Gandhi “remains intoxicated even without drinking”. After his statement, political exchanges have intensified in political circles.
Referring to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh said he may drink, but not during the day. Through this comment, he took a swipe at Rahul Gandhi and Bhagwant Mann. His statement came in response to a remark made by the Congress MP, over which he appeared upset.
After this statement, a war of words between BJP and Congress leaders is likely to intensify. According to political analysts, personal comments by leaders against one another are giving more space to allegations and counter-allegations than to issue-based debate.
However, all eyes remain on the response of the leaders concerned to Brij Bhushan’s remark and on the political reactions that follow.
