BSP Revival May Challenge Akhilesh Yadav in UP

CNN Central News & Network–ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Uttar Pradesh politics is witnessing early shifts as the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) attempts a political comeback ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. According to political analysis, this revival could pose a serious challenge to Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav.

The BSP is focusing on rebuilding its grassroots organisation and re-activating its traditional vote base, especially Dalit voters. Party chief Mayawati is reportedly working on strengthening internal structure and reconnecting with core supporters.

SP’s current strategy is based on consolidating PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) votes. However, if BSP regains influence among Dalits, especially Jatav voters, it could split this vote bank.

Political experts say this situation may turn UP elections into a multi-cornered contest rather than a direct SP vs BJP battle. Such a scenario could also indirectly benefit the BJP by dividing opposition votes.

The coming months will be crucial to see whether BSP can convert its organisational efforts into real electoral strength.
