CNN Central News & Networks / ITDC India Epress / ITDC News / Agencies, Bhopal: Yoga and exercise are considered useful for improving reproductive health and the ability to conceive among women. In particular, questions are often raised about yoga postures and pelvic floor exercises, and whether regular practice can increase fertility. According to health experts, these activities may help improve overall health, but they should not be considered a guarantee of conception or a treatment for infertility.
Regular practice of yoga may help reduce stress, improve sleep and indirectly support hormonal balance in the body. Stress and an irregular lifestyle can affect reproductive health. In such a situation, pranayama, meditation and gentle yoga postures can help maintain mental health and physical activity.
Pelvic floor exercises, also known as Kegel exercises, help strengthen the muscles of the pelvic region. This can benefit bladder control and muscle health during pregnancy and after childbirth. However, there is not enough scientific evidence to show that these exercises directly improve egg quality, ovulation or the chances of conception.
According to experts, women’s fertility depends on age, hormones, ovarian function, fallopian tubes and other medical factors. If pregnancy is not occurring despite regular efforts, medical evaluation is necessary. Generally, women under 35 should consult a specialist after trying for one year, while women aged 35 or above should seek advice after six months of trying. Therefore, yoga and exercise should be made part of a healthy lifestyle, but proper medical advice and treatment should be prioritised for reproductive problems.
