CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Former Director General of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Professor Sanjay Dwivedi, said Hindi has become a world language. He said Hindi is being watched, heard and read in many countries, and digital platforms, social media, cinema and new technology have accelerated its global expansion.

Professor Dwivedi was addressing the Hindi Day celebration and prize distribution programme organised at Canara Bank’s zonal office in Bhopal as the chief guest. The event was presided over by the bank’s Zonal Head Satya Prakash Singh. On the occasion, the Hindi Day message of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah was also read out.

The programme was conducted by Official Language Officer Khushboo Gupta, while the welcome address was delivered by Deputy General Manager Kirit Nagar. Winners of various competitions were awarded prizes on the occasion.

Professor Dwivedi said language is not only a medium of communication but also a carrier of culture, memory and identity. He said Hindi has played an important role in connecting India’s diversities. It should not remain confined to official work, but must be made a language of knowledge, science, technology, business and employment. He said connecting the new generation with Hindi, modern technology and global knowledge is the need of the hour. The development of Hindi, he added, should not be in opposition to other Indian languages, but in cooperation with them.

Speaking on the effective use of the official language, Satya Prakash Singh said the meaningful use of Rajbhasha Hindi is important in making banking services easy, simple and accessible to the public. Communicating with customers in their own language strengthens warmth between banks and customers. He urged employees to adopt Hindi as a natural language in their day-to-day official work.
