CNN Central News & Network-ITDC India Epress/ITDC News Bhopal: Cancer is generally associated with advancing age, but the disease can also occur among young people. Thyroid cancer, testicular cancer, lymphoma, melanoma and, in some cases, breast and colorectal cancer are seen in people aged 20 to 39. However, cancer at a young age remains relatively rare.
Among young people, early symptoms are often mistaken for common health problems and ignored. It is important to pay attention to signs such as an unexplained lump or swelling in the body, persistent fatigue, sudden weight loss, pain that lasts for a long time, a persistent cough or change in voice, fever without a clear cause, or excessive sweating at night.
In addition, blood in stool or urine, persistent constipation or diarrhoea, changes in bowel habits, a new or changing mole on the skin, a wound that does not heal, unexplained bleeding, or bruising easily can also be reasons to consult a doctor for examination.
According to experts, these symptoms do not directly mean cancer. Most of them may also be caused by other common illnesses. But if any new symptom persists for a few weeks, worsens, or keeps returning, it is important to seek medical advice.
